What Is FreeCAN
Objective
FreeCAN is a project to implement the Controller Area Network Transfer Layer in HDL as a Open IP Core.
The Objective currently is to focus on the Transfer layer and then later if time permits move upwards(Application/Object Layer) and downwards (Wireless PHY layer instead of wired PHY).
This is the Weblog of the project. Here we will be posting the different stages of the project.
License
The patents for CAN are held by Bosch and any implementation for commercial purposes needs a license from them but this development for educational purposes and as such does not need any license. More about CAN will come in the following posts
